Virtual Info Journey

The M.A. Castrén Society has allocated a grant to the National Library of the Komi Republic for the implementation of the project - Virtual Info Journey: About the Native Republic in the Native Language. The far-reaching goal of the project is to promote Komi as the official language of the republic through its integration into online resources.

One of the most popular library websites is the Cultural Map of the Komi Republic . This resource focuses on the life of the region, its history, unique natural areas, outstanding personalities, brands, tourist routes, etc. In 2013, the implementation of the project became possible also thanks to the support of the M.A. Castrén Society. The number of site visits in 2020 amounted to 111,913.

The grant funding will be used to enrich the site with relevant articles in the Komi language and to record folk tales for the collection named Финн-йöгра войтырлöн мойдъяс ("Tales of the Finno-Ugric peoples"). The grant comes as a great gift for the library and our patrons in the year of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Komi Republic.
