10 September 2020 Bidding Results for Capital Renovation of the Library Building are Announced On September 8, a tender was held for the capital renovation of the National Library of the Komi Republic. Elf Engineering Company became the winner of the bid and will be awarded the contract. The initial maximum contract value stood at 120,839,290 rubles. The final offer was reduced to 114,193,129 rubles.
The scope of works includes a major renovation of the famous 'house with columns' which was built in 1958 and is now a cultural heritage site (a monument of history and culture of the Komi Republic). The design and estimate documentation, developed in 2014 and updated in 2020, passed the state examination and received a positive conclusion.
The construction company will replace worn-out partitions, doors, windows, renew the flooring, and finish the walls and ceilings. The toilet will be made accessible to people with limited mobility. The pipes for the cold and hot water supply system will be also replaced, the new sewerage system and heating system will be installed. Additional installations include split systems for air conditioning, CCTV and fire alarms, emergency communication systems, access control and management. The roof and entrance lobby will be repaired. The facade will be plastered and painted; the lost architectural details will be restored while the historical look of the building will be preserved.
Besides, by the end 2020, tenders will be announced for the improvement of the adjacent area, purchase of new equipment and furniture. Funding is provided from the federal and regional budgets in line with the general city infrastructure improvement in preparation for the 100th anniversary since the formation of the Republic of Komi. The Centennial Anniversary falls on 22 August 2021.
In October 2019, the library collections were relocated and since then we have been serving our patrons on temporary premises (41 Kataev Street and 10 Ordzhonikidze Street). It is planned that the renovation of the historical building will be completed in 2021.
