A Gift from Komi
Ethnic Komi mittens by Charlene Schurch

Choosing a perfect gift is a challenge, but making one is art and craft. If you have run out of ideas for Christmas presents, you can try and make one yourself. Here is a book that will make it easy: Mostly Mittens by Charlene Schurch.

The book appeared as a hardcover in 1998 and proved to be so popular that two revised paperback editions have been published since.

The original edition collects thirty-six mitten patterns, two patterns for caps and two patterns for socks. It provides complete charts and instructions for mastering basic techniques, adapting patterns for machine knitting, and adding geometric designs and colour.

Mostly Mittens also presents the author’s research of the Komi people and their history of textile ornamentation. A brief summary of ancient Komi traditions helps you explore another culture through the universal language of ethnic knitting design.

Create a perfect gift making colourful Komi mittens and warm someone's heart on a cold Christmas day.
