Computer Literacy for Senior Citizens
On 1 October 2020, the National Library of the Komi Republic launched an annual online training course in computer literacy for senior citizens.
People who have reached a retirement age can enroll on the course free of charge.
The participants' age is 50+
The training sessions are delivered in VKontakte social network in a group humorously called Computers for Grannies. Short podcasts provide video lessons and give homework to practice newly acquired skills.
The topics cover most popular questions:
- How to create your email account?
- Where to buy railway tickets online?
- How to use public services on the All-Russia State Services Portal?
There are about 250 members in Computers for Grannies who study online at their own pace and in their own time. After the completion of the course, the participants take a test for a certificate in primary computer literacy.
